Elevate Your Life!
Recently, Pamela Melroy and Peggy Whitson made
history. Respectively, they commanded the Shuttle Discovery and the
International Space Station (ISS) as the two ships joined to complete a resupply
and restructure mission for the ISS. Never before have two women held such lofty
positions.
But, while Melroy and Whitson achieved this great
coincidence, the reality is that worldwide, women-young and old-are
under-represented in the world of aviation-as pilots, mechanics, designers,
builders, and even just ordinary enthusiasts.
It's time to change that demographic!
At EAA AirVenture Oshkosh 2008, EAA will initiate
that change, and we need your help. EAA's goal is to introduce aviation as an
enjoyable interest, hobby, or profession to thousands of women over the next
several years. The first step will be made at AirVenture 2008 when we're asking
women pilots to converge upon Oshkosh to set a record for the number of women
pilots gathered in one location at one time…ever! By setting such a world
record, EAA's goal is to inspire women throughout the world that they, too, can
reach for the sky…and elevate their life.
How has your involvement in aviation affected
your life? We're guessing it's been a huge, positive influence. And, we're
asking you, a group of talented, confident women, to take up this call and
assist EAA as we share the spirit of aviation…as we elevate the lives of more
women.
How can you help?
- By joining the EAA Women's Task Force and
assisting with the development and organization of EAA's record attempt.
- By encouraging every woman pilot you know to
attend AirVenture 2008 and participate the record-setting event.
- By sharing your aviation story with other
girls and women.
- By encouraging more women to become involved
in aviation as an interest, hobby, or profession.
