July 9, 2013 - Back by popular demand for the third straight year, the world's most advanced humanoid robot, Honda's ASIMO, returns for AirVenture 2013.
The robot will conduct twice-daily performances Monday through Friday, at 10 a.m. and 1 p.m., and three times Saturday and Sunday, 10 a.m., 11:30 a.m., and 1:30 p.m., at the Honda Aircraft Company exhibit spaces 407-416 across from the flightline just north of Phillips 66 Plaza.
ASIMO is an acronym for Advanced Step in Innovative Mobility, and it can independently walk forward, backward, up and down stairs, in straight lines, and on curves. ASIMO is also the only bipedal humanoid robot in the world capable of running up to 4 mph.
Originally designed to assist people in their homes, ASIMO is currently being used to encourage and inspire young people to pursue studies in science, math, and technology.
