Was 'the voice' of EAA air shows for 50 years
Roscoe Morton

June 20, 2013 - Roscoe Morton, EAA Lifetime 16753, who was "the voice" of EAA fly-in air shows for 50 years in both Rockford and Oshkosh, passed away Saturday, June 15, in Frostproof, Florida. He was 81.

Roscoe spent hundreds of hours narrating air show performances and giving information to flightline crowds during the EAA convention. He retired as the air show announcers chairman after EAA AirVenture 2011, when he was honored for a half-century of service and entertainment for EAA. Roscoe also served as announcers chairman at the Sun 'n Fun fly-in in Lakeland, and was a member of the Sun 'n Fun board.

In 2009, Roscoe was presented with the EAA President's Award, honoring those volunteers and members whose "participation and contributions represent the essence of EAA."

Roscoe also had a full aviation career as a flight instructor and in agricultural flying and corporate aviation. He then joined Southern Airlines (later Delta Airlines) and became a chief pilot and check airman. He retired from Delta as a Boeing 747 international captain.

Funeral services for Roscoe were held Thursday, June 20, in his birthplace of Elk Falls, Kansas. EAA expresses its condolences to Roscoe's wife, Jinny, and his family.
