April 11, 2013 - After a one-year hiatus, the EAA AirVenture Concert Band will reconvene and perform at the convention this year, and we're looking for musicians. This will be the sixth year EAA members and others will get together to entertain fellow Oshkosh attendees during one of the fly-in's evening programs.
More than 300 people from 32 states and three other countries have participated. Experience levels range from retired musicians to junior high school students, former military band members, and others. It's the first (and only) band we know of composed of attendees at an aviation event.
Elton Eisele, a longtime EAA member and high school band director from the Chicago area, will again serve as conductor. The performance date will be either July 31 or August 1 (location and time to be determined) following a rehearsal or two at AirVenture. Confirmed time (and sheet music of pieces that will be performed) will be provided well in advance of the convention.
If you'd like to join us, we'd love to have you! All band instruments are welcome. Register online by April 14, and learn more at the band's Facebook page, or by e-mailing Elton at firstname.lastname@example.org.
For those of you who play large instruments that would be difficult to transport in an airplane or motor home, we've partnered with Heid Music, which is conveniently located across from the North 40. You can reserve an instrument by calling them directly at 920-651-4343.
