Innovation area expands to two hangars - North and South
Designer/builder Thomas Senkel pilots the 16-motor e-volo Multicopter on its first manned flight in October 2011.

For the fourth consecutive year at AirVenture, the UW-Oshkosh Business Success Center is organizing AeroInnovate, which highlights new technologies, entrepreneurs, emerging companies, and investment trends.

And this year it has partnered up with the Lindbergh Foundation's Aviation Green Alliance to host a variety of forums and exhibits as part of the two expanded Innovation Hangars - North (formerly the Children's Activity Hangar) and South - located at the north end of the grounds between the Homebuilders Hangar and Homebuilders Headquarters.

At Innovation Hangar South, you will find several exhibits showcasing companies that are at the cutting edge of aviation innovation, including Makani Power, MakerPlane, Engineered Propulsion Systems, Swift Fuels, e-volo, Synergy Aircraft, and Brandt Innovative Technologies, plus others to be added.

Two NASA elements will also be located in South - Commercial Space Transportation and its partners (SpaceX, Sierra Nevada, etc.) as well as the Curiosity team that will see its latest rover land on Mars on August 5. Limited spots are still available to display your new technology; if interested or for more information, contact Meridith Jaeger at jaegerm@uwosh.edu.

In addition to speakers throughout the week, Innovation Hangar - North will also host the third annual Electric Flight Symposium, which will feature influential industry leaders discussing electric aircraft propulsion and offering what they envision as the future of flight. More details and registration information will be available in the coming weeks.

AeroInnovate helps innovators from across the globe who are starting and growing aero-related businesses and bringing related new technologies to the marketplace. The goal is to facilitate the alignment of passionate, successful "investors" and industry leaders with the best aviation-related opportunities in the world to help get deals done.

AeroInnovate does this by bringing innovators together and offering top-notch educational forums, aligning the best companies with investors and industry leaders, exposing technology through technology showcases, and connecting innovators to people and resources.

AeroInnovate at AirVenture will:

  • Provide forums for entrepreneurs and investors
  • Connect like-minded individuals in the Business & Networking Center
  • Showcase ideas and technologies from innovators in the Technology Showcase
  • Host events like the Investor Roundtable Dinner and Pitch & Mingle Event, plus a Startup Aviation Day on Wednesday, July 25

The Aviation Green Alliance - a nonprofit organization that brings stakeholders together to address environmental challenges facing the aviation industry, including emissions, noise, and operational efficiency - creates multiple platforms for members to share strategies, findings, progress, and ideas related to the environment and the aviation industry. The Aviation Green Alliance offers industry members numerous resources for solution development, including up-to-date environmental news and information.

Additional elements offered by the Aviation Green Alliance include grant funding for the discovery and development of new technologies, recommended practices for achieving measurable conservation and sustainability initiatives, educational programs to highlight progress achieved, and recognition of member successes.
