Runners and walkers can now register for the most unique road races anywhere - the sixth annual EAA Runway 5K, which will be held on Saturday, July 28, in conjunction with EAA AirVenture 2012.
The 3.1-mile race on an aircraft-lined path loops around the AirVenture grounds beginning at 7 a.m.
Proceeds from the race benefit the Boys & Girls Club of Oshkosh, the YMCA Strong Kids Fund, and Cerebral Palsy and ARC of Mideast Wisconsin.
In addition to an event T-shirt provided by Jaeger Sports and complementary post-race snacks and beverages from Festival Foods, participants receive admission to EAA AirVenture "Super Saturday" activities. The day's events are capped by the Rockwell Collins Night Air Show, followed by spectacular fireworks and the "Wall of Fire."
Super Saturday also features an extended afternoon air show with the "Warbird Extravaganza" and two evening concerts - Da BLOOZE Bros., a Blues Brothers tribute band, presented by Ford Motor Company, and the Boogie Knights, a '70s tribute band, presented by Southwest Airlines.
Register online by 5 p.m. July 26 or on AirVenture grounds at the EAA Welcome Center by July 27. Registration is $35 for the general public and includes admission to Super Saturday, and $25 for those who already possess a Saturday AirVenture admission.
