The 75th anniversary of the Piper Cub will help paint the field yellow in Vintage aircraft parking as hundreds of J-3s fly-in for the 60th annual World's Greatest Aviation Celebration July 23-29 at Wittman Regional Airport in Oshkosh, Wisconsin. All Cub owners are encouraged to register at the Cubs 2 Oshkosh website, which features the latest information on the Cub-related activities leading up to and during AirVenture 2012.
Cubs 2 Oshkosh activities begin the weekend before AirVenture (July 20-21), when as many as 75 Cubs will gather at Wisconsin's Hartford Municipal Airport (HXF), staging for a group flight to Wittman Regional Airport early Sunday morning. Other meeting points are being established throughout the country for groups of Cub owners who want to fly in together. Registration deadline for Hartford Cubs 2 Oshkosh events is July 10.

VAA/Cubs 2 Oshkosh Picnic - Wednesday, July 25, 5-8 p.m., at the Nature Center (advance ticket purchase is required at VAA Red Barn Headquarters)
- Cub Fly-Out, Saturday, July 28, 7 a.m.-noon, a group of Cubs plans a fly-out to Shawano, Wisconsin.
- Warbirds in Review - The Piper L-4 Cub will be featured during the 1-2:15 p.m. program on Tuesday, July 24, at the special aircraft display area in Scotts Warbird Alley.
- Air show pilot Greg Koontz and the Alabama Boys will entertain AirVenture guests with their flying farmer comedy routine featuring a Piper J-3 Cub landing on top of a truck. Kyle Franklin will also perform his PA-18 Super Cub comedy routine. (Air show schedule)

In honor of the 75th, EAA is giving away a restored 1940 Piper J-3 Cub as grand prize in the 2012 EAA "Win the Cub" Aircraft Sweepstakes. The winner, to be drawn at 5 p.m. CDT on September 10, 2012, will also receive $2,500 of flight training at Cub Air Flight School in Hartford, Wisconsin, along with a pair of TrickAir Sport 1500 snow skis.
