Poberezny Road construction
Work on Poberezny Road, the main access route to Camp Scholler, will be completed by early July.

If you arrive at AirVenture or Camp Scholler from the south this year, you'll notice a smoother ride on your way in. The Wisconsin Department of Transportation is reconstructing Poberezny Road, the U.S. Highway 41 east-side frontage road, from the Highway 41/26 interchange to Waukau Avenue, just south of the EAA AirVenture Museum.

That section of Poberezny Road had been deteriorating for the past several years, making it a bumpy and sometimes hazardous ride. This road is the most popular route to reach the Camp Scholler entrance, so an upgrade was a priority for EAA. Meetings with local and state officials put together a cooperative plan to reconstruct the road with shared funding, which makes it a winning solution for everyone.

Plans call for the construction to be completed by early July, in plenty of time for the vast majority of camper arrivals at AirVenture this year.

AirVenture attendees should also be aware of some Oshkosh-area detours due to the ongoing Highway 41 reconstruction project, especially the Highway 41/21 interchange on the north side of Oshkosh. For updates and detour routes, visit the Wisconsin DOT Highway 41 project website.

FUTURE AIRVENTURE DATES: 2014: July 28-Aug. 3; 2015: July 20-26; 2016: July 25-31; 2017: July 24-30
