AirVenture 2011 marks another year of participation by the international federal agencies that exhibit in the Federal Pavilion, just north of the Sky Shoppe on the flightline.

The National Park Service will feature a 1911 Wright EX Replica of the Vin Fiz, the first pusher biplane to cross North America by air.

Federal Pavilion visitors will also have the opportunity to experience soaring across Huffman Prairie, Ohio, nearly 100 years ago, courtesy of the National Aviation Heritage Alliance's 1911 Wright B Simulator, and try to match the Wright Brothers first flight over the dunes of Kitty Hawk in EAA's Wright Flyer simulator.

"Experience Your America" is the motto of the National Park Service, and EAA's inaugural campfire programs in the campground (west side of Paul's Woods) will allow attendees to do just that by introducing them to the NPS, engaging them with the story of the Vin Fiz cross-continental flight, and reacquainting them with the significance of the 1911 Wright Glider. The NPS will also sponsor new exhibits to complement those campfire programs. These will include an informational NPS overview and parts of a 1911 Wright Glider on display at the International Federal Pavilion. In addition, audience participation will fuel the story of the Vin Fiz in a presentation titled, "What 13 States, 49 Days, 3 Railroads, and a Bottle of Grape Drink Did for Aviation."

Other federal partners will display other aircraft including helicopters and RPVs (remotely piloted vehicles). The Islands of the Bahamas will feature an LSA aircraft along with a program to encourage LSA enthusiasts to fly the short distance there.

Parents are also encouraged to bring their children to the Federal Pavilion for free fingerprinting by U.S. Customs agents.

FUTURE AIRVENTURE DATES: 2014: July 28-Aug. 3; 2015: July 20-26; 2016: July 25-31; 2017: July 24-30
