EAA AirVenture Oshkosh RSS FeedCluster Balloon Prepares for Sunset Launch

Jonathan Trappe, his crew, and volunteers recruited at AirVenture began preparing his cluster balloon system for a Thursday launch (July 29) at sunset from Pioneer Airport. Inflation of the helium-filled balloons began at 4 p.m., and if air traffic allows, Trappe will launch at 7 p.m.

If air traffic is too heavy, Trappe will wait to launch his multi-colored cluster balloon just after 8 p.m. following the return of the American Airlines 737 Honor Flight that left for Washington, D.C., with veterans on board.

FUTURE AIRVENTURE DATES: 2014: July 28-Aug. 3; 2015: July 20-26; 2016: July 25-31; 2017: July 24-30
