“You don’t have to donate anything;
it’s appreciated, but certainly not necessary,” said Ryan Stultz,
EAA donor and business relations intern, about the EAA Share the Spirit
Sweepstakes. “People have been very generous.”
This year, the grand prize is an Aviat
Husky A-1C, and it includes a full year’s worth of aviation fuel
credit from Chevron, a Garmin G500 and GNS 430 panel-mount avionics
suite, and a set of Wipaire C2200 hydraulic wheel skis.
All proceeds from the sweepstakes go to
support EAA’s historical and youth education programs to help grow
participation in aviation.
EAA Chapter 22 started the sweepstakes as a raffle in 1963 when the
convention was still held in Rockford, Illinois. Over the years, more
than 40 aircraft have been given away, among other prizes.
You’ll also have a chance to win a
Honda Big Red MUV, Remos Pilot Center sport pilot certificate training,
Hamilton Aviation Khaki X-Wind watch, Canon EOS 50D kit with lens, and
Bose Wave music system.
You can get your tickets at the
Sweepstakes booth, EAA Welcome Center, AirVenture Assistance Center by
the main gate, and Information/Lost and Found.
“You don’t have to be a member to
enter,” said Tom Janusevic, co-chairman of fundraising and
sweepstakes. “If you donate $20 or more, we’ll print out your
tickets for you so you don’t have to write them all by hand.”
The Sweepstakes booth is open 8 a.m. to 6
p.m. every day. “You have until noon on Sunday August 1, to enter,”
said Wally Parson, vice-chairman fundraising and sweepstakes. “The
winners will be announced Sunday after the air show. All entries will be
put into an Oshkosh mixer and churned seven times for each day of the
show.”
