EAA volunteers and staff are continuing
their yeoman efforts to make everything ready for Monday’s opening day
at EAA AirVenture. After rains on Thursday, Friday has been mostly dry,
allowing additional work to be completed.
“Our volunteers and staff have put in
an amazing amount of extra time to get things ready,” EAA
chairman/president Tom Poberezny said. “Their efforts and imagination
at meeting some of the weather-related challenges have been
extraordinary, and the grounds have held up very well.”
Campers are moving into Camp Scholler at
a steady pace. Those with tents, pull-behind and fifth-wheel units are
being escorted to suitable areas, while larger “Class A” units are
being temporarily placed on hard surfaces as the grounds continue to
dry.
On Friday, aircraft arrivals continued,
with all ground operations taking place on hard surfaces to protect
aircraft and the grounds. Arriving aircraft are being marshaled to
appropriate parking areas. EAA will continue to update conditions to
provide accurate information and assistance to all those traveling to
Oshkosh for the event, which starts July 26. AirVenture aircraft parking
status is also available online
here.
