EAA
's redesigned AirVenture website is live,
reconfigured to bring you all the information and interactive features of
the 2009 convention and fly-in - whether you're experiencing the event in
person or following it from home.
With more Wi-Fi capabilities throughout the
convention grounds, more visitors are heading to the Internet to find out
what they need to know about AirVenture events and activities than ever
before. But if you can't get to Oshkosh, the redesigned website will also
allow you to experience the convention in real time.
The new site is easier to navigate and will
allow all viewers to quickly see the top news at a glance. It features
five tabs - News, Twitter, EAA Radio, Quick Pix, and Community - that
allow you to find what you're looking for fast.
News stories will be added and
updated throughout the day, while Twitter will carry immediate bursts of
information about changes in the schedule, can't-miss activities, or news
you need to know, such as when aircraft camping is full or when a special
unplanned flyby may take place.
The EAA Radio tab allows you to
listen live, or hear featured programming archives like the air show or
Theater in the Woods presentations. EAA
Radio is streaming live 24/7 already and will continue throughout the
week of AirVenture.
Quick Pix is just as its name
implies. EAA's photographers will post pictures on the popular photo
website, Flickr, also in real time. For example, when VMS Eve is doing
fly-bys above Wittman Regional Airport, EAA photographers plan to capture
images on their iPhones and upload them directly to Flickr before the
mothership even reaches the ground.
The Community page will allow you to
comment on stories and events, creating a conversation among members and
other aviation enthusiasts via the newly established Oshkosh365
free online social network. With Oshkosh365 you'll be able to connect
with people, share knowledge and information through message boards, join
or start special interest groups, follow your favorite aviation blogs,
podcasts, and more.
But that's not all. The remodeled website
will also include AirVenture videos and photo galleries highlighting
various activities each day. Plus, you'll see a Flickr tab on the home
page that will allow you to submit photos and/or see AirVenture photos
taken by other visitors.
