EAA's Camp Scholler officially opened up to
campers Friday morning, June 26, marking one month before the start of EAA
AirVenture Oshkosh. Camp Scholler sites are available on a first-come,
first-served basis and are available only for EAA members and their
guests.
Camp Scholler creates the unique Oshkosh
atmosphere where tens of thousands of EAAers form a community based on the
love of aviation. Lifelong friendships often result, as people
traditionally set up camp in the same locations year after year.
EAA member Jerry LaRoche, of Waukesha,
Wisconsin, commented, "We've camped in the same spot every year and
the only thing that has changed is the size of the trees."
Camp Scholler campsites accommodate tents,
vehicles, and RVs. Available amenities include general stores, free Wi-Fi,
food services, shower facilities, RV pumping station, designated handicap
camping areas, 24-hour generator use areas, and more. In addition, several
shower buildings have been expanded to include flush toilet facilities, a
first for AirVenture.
