‘Small’ seat cushion
makes huge difference for F-22 pilots
|
|
There’s
a seemingly small feature of the United States Air Force’s F-22A
fighter jet that’s making a difference in F-22 pilots’ ability
to pull high G’s and to fly long sorties — the Oregon Aero®
APECS® I Ejection Seat Cushion.
The
highly engineered APECS® I Cushion provides comfort, impact
protection and durability under the extreme conditions of flying up
to Mach 2.0 and altitudes of up to 60,000 feet, not to mention the
extreme aerobatic maneuvers on display at EAA AirVenture 2008. The
cushion’s design shifts the seat occupant’s hips and pelvis into
the ideal sitting position, eliminating pain and "hot
spots" usually associated with long hours in the seat.
