Attendees
from all over the world come to Oshkosh to celebrate aviation, and some
also plan to participate in the 20th annual EAA Quilt Gathering on
Thursday, July 31, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Last year
over 500 people came to the Quilt Gathering, some as far as Australia.
"Meeting and greeting people from all over the world is one
highlight of the gathering," Lakeside Quilters’ Guild Vice
President Mary Lark said.
This year’s
theme for the Quilt Gathering is red, white, and blue, and there are
eight different categories. Plus, eight vendors will be set up during
the event to showcase their materials.
Many
miscellaneous items have been donated and will be given out as door
prizes every hour. Attendees can also enter in a raffle to win a quilt,
place bids in a silent auction, and much more.
The event is taking place
at the Oshkosh Senior Center Annex building located off of AirVenture
grounds at 200 North Campbell Rd. AirVenture attendees and others can
take the Oshkosh Transit System for transportation to and from the
event. It’s free to anyone. For more information, visit the Guild’s
website, www.focol.org/LakesideQG/index.html.
