Cirrus
Design Corporation today announced that its highly anticipated
very-light jet, currently dubbed "The-Jet," successfully
completed its inaugural flight this morning at Duluth International
Airport.
The single-turbine aircraft took off at
approximately 10 a.m. and flew for 45 minutes. According to Cirrus' news
release, the seven-passenger aircraft "performed flawlessly."
Although Cirrus is still finalizing
specific plans for showcasing The-Jet at EAA AirVenture Oshkosh at the
end of this month, EAA's discussions with this "fixture"
exhibitor suggest considerable up-close exposure of the aircraft's
design, composition, and performance to AirVenture attendees.
"Cirrus' founders, Alan and Dale
Klapmeier, established their aviation roots in the EAA community's
amateur-building activities. We're pleased that this community's
convention will once again serve as the world stage for unveiling the
results of their research, innovation, and dedication to flight,"
said EAA President and AirVenture Chairman Tom Poberezny. Click

This EAA publication and other EAA
communications will provide more details on Cirrus' plans for The-Jet at
AirVenture as information becomes available. |
