Attention, young women who are undecided about their future career: Apply now to attend one of the most recognizable and successful aviation conferences available to you – EAA’s Women Soar You Soar, at AirVenture Oshkosh 2008!

Women Soar You Soar is continuing to accept applications to its fourth annual conference, scheduled for July 28-29 at the EAA Aviation Center in Oshkosh at the start of The World’s Greatest Aviation Celebration – EAA AirVenture Oshkosh! We’re aiming to help up to 150 young women explore a variety of aviation and aeronautical activities, including flight simulation, wide-ranging workshops, and aviation mentoring sessions.

One of the scheduled mentors is Katrina Avery, who’s completing her sophomore year at Minnesota State University – Mankato this year. She serves as president of the MSU-Northern Lights Chapter of Women in Aviation, International, earned her Instrument rating on Valentine’s Day, and is well on her way towards her Commercial ticket. This summer she will serve as an intern for Alaris Aviation, and can’t wait to attend the conference in July to tell other young women about what’s possible in the aviation field.

Also appearing at Women Soar You Soar will be Lieutenant Colonel Jill "Raggz" Long, United States Air Force. Jill is one of the most energized pilots around – male or female. From the moment you meet her, it’s clear that this woman loves the skies. Her primary aircraft, the A-10 Thunderbolt, is affectionately known as the “Warthog.” Jill is the only woman to be chosen for fighter cross-training into the A-10, from the KC-135 and has accumulated over 3000 military flight hours, including 50 combat missions in the Global War on Terrorism.

Today, she is an instructor/evaluator pilot for Euro-NATO Joint Jet Training, and spends her time away from military duties demonstrating and communicating her passion for flight while inspiring millions at air shows (flying aerobatic performances in her Pitts S2B) and conferences. Learn more about Jill at www.raggededge.us, and meet her at Women Soar You Soar!

These are just two of several talented, motivating women scheduled to appear this year who will be looking to inspire young women to consider the aviation field as a limitless career opportunity. The conference is open to students grades 9 through 12. Applications will be accepted through June 30, 2008, and are available at www.AirVenture.og/WomenSoar. Cost to attend is $50, which includes lodging at University of Wisconsin - Oshkosh, meals, and admission to EAA AirVenture Oshkosh. (Inquire about scholarship opportunities!)

Space is limited so apply today! For more information email: womensoar@eaa.org or call toll-free at 800-236-1025.
