EAA AirVenture Theater in the Woods
2008 information will be posted as it becomes
available.
EAA
AirVenture Oshkosh is famous for providing entertaining and informative evening
programs at the Theater in the Woods, which is the largest public gathering
structure on the grounds. The open-air pavilion has seating for 3,500 people
under its spacious roof, while many more have traditionally brought lawn chairs
and blankets and enjoyed the evening's programs from spots adjacent to the
seating area.
Theater in the Woods features a large stage area,
modern lighting, a BOSE sound system, closed-circuit video monitors through the
pavilion and much more. The nightly lineup can include anything from astronauts
to musicians, or from aviation legends to EAA award winners. It's the perfect
conclusion to a busy day on the flight line - relaxed, informative and
entertaining. Sometimes, it even makes it own history.
Evening programs at EAA’s annual fly-in have
been part of the event almost as long as the gathering has existed. The first
programs were created as educational seminars or entertainment for the aviation
enthusiasts who were camping on the grounds, and held in borrowed hangars or
large tents. Since Theater in the Woods was built in the 1980s, right near the
center of the flight line, it has been expanded several times to accommodate the
number of aviation enthusiasts who want to attend these evening programs. The
largest audience to attend a program at Theater in the Woods was an estimated
10,000 who attended the historic gathering of 15 Apollo astronauts in 1994, as
they came together on-stage to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the first
manned moon landing.
Nightly programs begin at approximately 7:30 p.m.
at Theater in the Woods and are included with all AirVenture admissions.
