EAA AirVenture Museum and Pioneer Airport

Admission to EAA AirVenture Oshkosh not only gives access to all the great airplanes on the flight line; you also have an opportunity to enjoy one of the world's finest aviation museums for free! From July 28 - August 3, 2008, a daily or weekly EAA AirVenture wristband is also a ticket to the world-class EAA AirVenture Museum.

Museum attractions include an impressive collection of more than 200 historic airplanes, six movie theaters, art and photo galleries, flight simulators, gift shops and two "hands-on" interactive galleries for kids of all ages!

Plus, a multitude of special activities take place in the Museum throughout the week of AirVenture. An outstanding roster of aviation personalities is slated to appear every day, telling their personal stories throughout several locations at the world-class EAA AirVenture Museum. Over 100 Museum Presentations provide an opportunity to hear first hand from a variety of aviation legends and historians.

Museum Presentation provide visitors with the opportunity to hear personal accounts and other information from some of aviation's most well-known people.

The Museum has its own extensive website, where you can learn more about it's fascinating collections, exhibits and programs - and go on a virtual tour of the facility. http://www.airventuremuseum.org

Pioneer Airport

"...when the magic of flying charmed a nation"

An extension of the EAA AirVenture Museum, Pioneer Airport portrays a time when the magic of flying charmed the world. Styled as a typical airport of the 1930s, it displays over 50 vintage airplanes in seven period hangars - each of which is open daily for visitors to explore.

During AirVenture, the grass runway of Pioneer Airport is used as the base for helicopter operations and parking. Passenger rides are available throughout each day in a vintage Bell 47 helicopter, giving a unique bird's-eye view of the entire site (additional fee required, weather permitting).

Unfortunately, owing to operational restrictions the Pioneer Airport runway is closed to fixed-wing aircraft during AirVenture. However, the Airport's most famous resident airplane - EAA's 1929 Ford Tri-Motor - operates daily from the main runways at Wittman Field, offering passenger rides in a vintage airliner. (additional fee required, weather permitting).

Pioneer Airport has a controllable webcam, allowing web visitors from around the world the opportunity to view the facility (and check the weather in Oshkosh!) http://www.airventuremuseum.org/virtual/interactive/webcam.asp.
