EAA’s Women
Soar at AirVenture Oshkosh 2007 is filling up fast, but girls
in grades 9-12 still have a chance to sign up by June 29. Women Soar
introduces girls to exciting career opportunities in math, science, and
technology, but this year’s registrants also have an opportunity to win
a scholarship to attend a six-day Space Camp in Alabama through a newly
announced essay contest sponsored by Ragged Edge Aviation.
Winner of the “Live Life on the Ragged
Edge and Follow Your Dreams” essay contest will get six days at the U.S.
Space and Rocket Center (Space Camp) in Huntsville, Alabama. Only Women
Soar participants are eligible to win by composing a 2-5 page essay
specifically detailing:
- Their dream;
- The skills or attributes they possess
that will help in achieving it;
- The biggest challenges they may face
along the way;
- How they can rise to meet those
challenges;
- And how their experience at Space or
Aviation Challenge camp can help them on their path.
Participants’ essays must be submitted by
5 p.m. CDT on July 15, 2007 to be eligible for the scholarship. The
winning essay will be announced and read during the Women Soar program,
July 22-23 at EAA AirVenture 2007. For more information on participation
requirements, visit http://www.airventure.org/2007/events/women_soar.html.
