It’s one of the biggest questions that many
face as they finalize their journeys to The World’s Largest Aviation
Celebration: Where do I stay during the event? Hotel rooms in a 50-mile
radius around Oshkosh are at a premium, so it might be time to add to your
EAA AirVenture adventure with a little out-of-the-box thinking.
Fortunately, there are plenty of options if
you find that a nearby hotel room is not available. One of the favorite
ways to enjoy the entire AirVenture experience is by camping right on the
grounds. EAA Camp Scholler is available for drive-in camping and available
to any group that has at least one EAA member per campsite. The North 40
and showplane camping areas are available for those who fly to Wittman
Regional Airport. There’s no better way to enjoy the true culture,
flavor and fellowship of the event.
While the dormitory rooms at the University
of Wisconsin-Oshkosh, always a favorite, are filled for 2007, some dorm
rooms at Oshkosh Christian School, Lawrence University in Appleton, Marian
College in Fond du Lac and Ripon College are still available.
And don’t ignore the private housing
options available. Everything from sleeping rooms to full lakefront houses
are available through the Oshkosh Housing Hotline, covering the entire
spectrum of prices. Dozens of Oshkosh-area residents welcome visitors for
the event, with many creating lifelong friendships with aviators from
around the world.
Find out more on the AirVenture
website or call the Oshkosh Housing Hotline at 920-235-3007. There’s
more than a hotel room for you to call home at Oshkosh - regardless of
your personal style!
