EAA AirVenture's first-ever concert band,
originally announced in May, is beginning to take shape, says band
director Elton L. Eisele. They will perform on Wednesday, July 25, to open
that evening's program at Theater in the Woods. "The music folders
are almost finished and I'm going to send them out next week," he
said, adding that he's still looking for woodwind and French horn players.
The director also revealed this week that
EAA member Bob Diven, who is a homebuilder and a composer, recently wrote
"The Experimental Aviators March" for the EAA band. "The
march has had its first rough rehearsal reading by his local concert band,
and it will be part of their new season in the fall," Eisle said.
"But of course it would be most appropriate and fun to premiere the
piece this year at Oshkosh."
Those interested in playing in the band
(all are welcome to participate) should contact Eisele, longtime director
