PCAvionics offers
ready-to-fly moving-map packages, glass panel options
Aviation software
publisher PCAvionics announced its new, ready-to-fly moving map packages
this week at Oshkosh, along with a new product line of panel-mounted
instrumentation for experimental aircraft, dubbed "yourGlassPanel."
Based on an HP Travel
Companion (iPAQ rx5915) with a built-in GPS receiver, the company
installs its best-selling MountainScope moving-map software for aviation
and TomTom Navigator for streets. During AirVenture, the company says it
will knock an additional $100 of its package price if attendees mention
this coverage in EAA AirVenture Today.
"This package offers
affordable street and aviation mapping in a single device, and includes
capabilities for weather, traffic and the best terrain on the
market," stated Todd Sprague, president of PCAvionics.
The company’s new
instrument offerings feature standard dials as well as full EFIS
displays, and are available for standard 2-1/4-inch and 3-1/8-inch panel
holes. A single instrument can display any number of different dials and
can be changed with the flick of a switch. For under $10,000, according
to the company, a six-pack of "yourGlassPanel" instruments
would offer six-way redundancy on the displays, plus two-way redundancy
on the sensor packages.
"The new instruments
represent a new paradigm in aircraft instrumentation," Sprague
added. "The yourGlassPanel product line offers digital instruments
with a high degree of redundancy when compared with other electronic
instruments on the market."
