ACR introduces GPS
personal locator
ACR Electronics Inc. has
introduced the MicroFix, a one-button activated, emergency signaling
device for aviators and outdoors enthusiasts available at EAA
AirVenture. The FCC-approved MicroFix is 35 percent smaller and 25
percent lighter than its predecessor, the ACR AeroFix.
The suggested MSRP for
the MicroFix is $750. The AeroFix 406 GPS I, which provides an interface
cable connection capability to a GPS, and the AeroFix 406 GPS I/O, which
provides both an interface cable connection to a GPS plus an internal
GPS engine to acquire and transmit coordinates, are also available at
AirVenture.
Weighing in at just 10
ounces (285 g), the MicroFix is easily carried in a pack or pocket and
is small enough to be worn on a flight jacket or belt by aviators, the
company says. A lanyard and clip provide functionality and allow for
multiple mounting options.
