EAAers to strike up the band Wednesday night

EAA AirVenture’s first-ever concert band, under the direction of director Elton L. Eisele, will perform on Wednesday, July 25, to open that evening’s program at Theater in the Woods. Eisele put out the call this past spring for musician members to sign up and play at AirVenture and soon discovered that EAAers are a talented lot.

Those who signed up will gather for a rehearsal session at the Nature Center at 8 a.m. on Tuesday and Wednesday, where they’ll go through (among other numbers) "The Experimental Aviators March," a composition by EAA member Bob Diven. The homebuilder/composer wrote the piece expressly for the EAA Concert Band, Eisele said.

"The march has had its first rough rehearsal reading by this local concert band, and it will be part of their new season in the fall," Eisle said. "But of course it would be most appropriate and fun to premiere the piece this year at Oshkosh."

The band is slated to begin playing at 7:30 p.m.
