EAA AirVenture’s central
showcase, AeroShell Square
AeroShell Square, the
massive ramp in the center of the EAA convention grounds, becomes the
crossroads of the aviation world for one week every year at EAA
AirVenture Oshkosh. No other place on Earth brings together such a rich
and diverse collection of aircraft, and this week, AeroShell Square will
host everything from current military aircraft to magnificent warbirds
from the World War II era. And it’ll have some of the finest vintage
airplanes parked next to the latest aircraft from the world’s top
manufacturers, plus a few surprises that will make your visit
unforgettable.
"It is amazing
when one thinks of the variety of aircraft parked within a few yards of
one another at AirVenture," said Tom Poberezny, EAA president and
AirVenture chairman. "Through the years, everything from EAA’s
flying reproduction of the 1903 Wright Flyer to the supersonic
Concorde has been parked on AeroShell Square. It is the place where
history meets innovation, and tradition meets technology."
In addition, AeroShell
Square is the site of tomorrow’s opening day concert by The Beach
Boys, presented by Eclipse Aviation, Ford Motor Company, and Innovative
Solutions & Support. The concert begins at 5:30 p.m., right after
the conclusion of the afternoon air show.
You can also look for a number of new
aircraft announcements at AeroShell Square throughout the week. And
during the afternoon air show, many of the performers’ aircraft are
parked at the mouth of AeroShell Square as they await their turn to
perform. AeroShell Square is also adjacent to such popular areas as
homebuilt and vintage aircraft parking, the main commercial exhibit
area, and EAA’s Light-Sport Aircraft Mall. |
