Daryl Lenz, who worked as
EAA’s director of aircraft maintenance for many years, perished in a
traffic accident earlier this year. Daryl, who resigned from EAA in
August 2004 to take a teaching job at Fox Valley Technical College in
Oshkosh, still retained the role of organizing and managing aircraft
attractions on AeroShell Square during EAA AirVenture. Daryl also worked
closely with the sport pilot and aircraft maintenance offices.
Immediately following
Daryl’s untimely death, EAA declared the AeroShell Square headquarters
building, also known as West Ramp Headquarters, would be named in his
honor during AirVenture 2006. That ceremony takes place tomorrow at 9
a.m., at the building located on the northeast corner of AeroShell
Square. The public is invited to attend, especially the many people who
knew Daryl.
Daryl’s name will also be included in
this year’s EAA Memorial Wall installation on Sunday at 11 a.m.
