AirVenture Cup Results
Applications
for the 2006 Air Venture Cup Race are now available on the EAA AirVenture
website, www.airventure.org. The 9th annual AirVenture Cup is a fun and
exciting cross-country experience and the most enjoyable way to fly your
homebuilt airplane to Oshkosh!
The 500 statute-mile race takes place on Sunday,
July 23, the day before EAA AirVenture Oshkosh opens. Taking off at Wright
Brothers Field (MGY) in Dayton, Ohio, racers make pylon turns at Sterling Rock
Falls in Whiteside County (SQI), Illinois, and Rockford, Illinois (RFD), before
the sprint north to a flying finish at Lomira, Wisconsin. Racers then assemble
at Fond du Lac (FLD) for a mass arrival at EAA AirVenture Oshkosh later in the
day.
The race is open to aircraft certified in the
experimental aircraft category and is divided into several sub-categories based
on engine size and landing gear configuration. Pilots therefore compete against
other similar performing machines.

and colorful history seen through feature articles, photos, and video, visit www.AirVentureCup.com.
