Take a Ride in the Sky at EAA AirVenture Oshkosh

If you're heading to EAA AirVenture Oshkosh this year, there are plenty of opportunities to take flights in three distinctively different aircraft: EAA's B-17 Aluminum Overcast; a Bell 47 helicopter; and EAA's 1927 Ford Tri-Motor. Don't miss out on seeing the World's Greatest Aviation Celebration from above.

'Aluminum Overcast' Flights at EAA AirVenture

Now is the time to book your reservation for the return of EAA's magnificent B-17, Aluminum Overcast, to AirVenture Oshkosh after a year's absence while undergoing repairs. The Flying Fortress will be back better than ever, so pre-book now and receive a substantial discount.

Flights depart from Outagamie County Regional Airport, Appleton. Passengers need to report ready to depart the check-in point by the B-17 trailer (located in the Warbird area on the EAA AirVenture grounds) no later than one hour before their scheduled flight to be shuttled to Appleton. Unfortunately due to seat limitations on the shuttle van, B-17 passengers will be the only people shuttled to Appleton.

Flights fill up fast, so visit www.b17.org, call 800/FLY-NB17 (359-6217), or e-mail b17reservations@eaa.org for all the details. During the convention, tickets can be purchased at EAA Member Village and at the B-17 Trailer, located next to the Ford Tri-Motor building at the south end of Warbirds.

Bell 47 Helicopter Flights

Flights in a unique pattern on a Bell 47 (M*A*S*H) helicopter operate from 8 a.m.-8 p.m. Monday - Saturday, and on Sunday flights are available from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. There are no advance bookings, so buy your tickets at Pioneer Airport's Pitcairn Hangar, located behind the EAA AirVenture Museum.

1927 Ford Tri-Motor Flights

Ride the first mass-produced airliner, the Ford Tri-Motor, directly from EAA AirVenture. Office hours on the grounds are 7 a.m.-8 p.m. every day, and flights take place from 7:30 a.m.-7 p.m., Monday through Sunday. There are nine passengers per flight and everyone has a window. Tickets can be purchased at the Tri-Motor building located at the south end of Warbirds, or at the EAA Member Village.
